Ten Eighty Trees - The Kick

Ten Eighty Trees

The Kick

Post Grunge/Alt-Rock

"Imagine if Tom Morello's riffs were played by Jamie Lenman from Reuben. Vocals laid down by Cedric from at the drive in. Then the rhythm section of Rage/Audioslave came along for the ride. God damn I dig this band"

The Artist

Ten Eighty Trees are a three piece modern post grunge outfit from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. Consisting of Nathan (Guitar/Vocals), Michael (Drums) and Lewis (bass). They are currently smashing up the northern rock scene and I am trying my best to get them on the rock!

The Song

The Kick bursts in with a phat bass and precise guitar playing counter melodies. The second time around massive toms come in to let you know that you're about to get riffed all over like the dirty listener you are. Oh boy does the riff slap you stupid. Breaking doors down it echos the likes of Reuben and At The Drive-In with it belligerence. A verse over takes and expands out after the first dalliance with that mega riff. Nathan's vocals glide perfectly above the thumping percussive rhythm section along with a doubled melody on guitar. The second go round the verse does the same but with double stops. SPOILER! That sick riff is actually the chorus... the lads pulled a f*cking Noel Gallagher on us.... I love it. Rinse and repeat the above before landing square at the gates of the middle 8. What a bridge. A powered down verse and chorus build towards an epic and huge outro.

The Verdict

The Kick is one of the few songs I've heard that has caused me to pull over and just listen. The vocals, the song writing, the production.... it's all just perfect. I f*cking love this band.

Imagine if Tom Morello's riffs were tweaked by Jamie Lenman from Reuben. Vocals laid down by Cedric from at the drive in. Then the rhythm section of Rage/Audioslave came along for the ride.
