Raine - Provoke

Provoke

Raine

Dreampop/Vibecore

"Intraspective and melancholic themes affect the lyrical body of the track with beautifully doomed soliloquies. A tragically beautiful work of art, Provoke is a powerful grouping of melodies and metaphors conveyed in an astonishingly beautiful delivery from both musicians".

The artist

Raine are a recording due from the Isle of Man. They consist of Suzy Manton (vocals & guitars) and Martyn Cain (synths, percussion & bass)

The song

Taken from the album "Most Nights Lately", is possibly the most popular song I have had the pleasure of wrapping my lobes around.

Provoke shatters silence with a brooding piano under pinned by a subdued electronic, trap-like beat. The above is followed shortly thereafter by a semi distorted cello synth.

Pristine and clear vocals enter tying the sombre soundscape together. Intraspective and melancholic themes affect the lyrical body of the track with beautifully doomed soliloquies.

Poignantly looping from here on in you are led down the same path to marvel at the now familiar and still exquisite chorus.

The verdict

A tragically beautiful work of art, Provoke is a powerful grouping of melodies and metaphors conveyed in an astonishingly beautiful delivery from both musicians. Purpose built for a night where you wish to bask in your want for pastures new yet lust lethargically for familiarity, Provoke is what's known in the industry as a "sadbanger".
