Magnetic Midnight
EDM/Electronica
"Magnetic Midnight is a truly atmospheric song. It whisks you away to a dark new land but leaves you in a state of euphoria while you wander there aimlessly"
The artist
Raumstadt is a Glaswegian living on the Isle of Man, He cut his teeth in rock bands playing guitar but over the past 5 years he has shifted his focus to the world of electronic music. Raumstadt has been active for around 4 years.
The song
Beginning with a bongo jam 'Magnetic Midnight' widens out with a hard panned pad that takes you somewhere else. A tremolo drenched electric guitar jumps in periodically over the synth pad. This then leads to a heavier beat that is later complimented by a dark bassline that is the backbone of the track. The instrumentation drops out sporadically leaving just that heavy bassline exposed. The tune fades out with harmonies, chime cadences and that familiar tremolo guitar riff.
The verdict
Magnetic Midnight is a truly atmospheric song. It whisks you away to a dark new land but leaves you in a state of euphoria while you wander there aimlessly. At 7 minutes and 12 seconds long the tracks feels fresh every step of the way.
If you like...
If you like Atmospheric Trancey EDM akin to Aphex Twin or Brian Eno then this is sure to tickle your pickle. It feels vaguely reminiscent of the electro interludes found in Pink Floys and Porcupine Tree songs.
