Voodoo Bandits - I'm a Loser

Garage rock/Surf punk

"The song delivers as you would expect from such competent songwriters. I'm a loser brings all the summer vibes... it's like they planned the release to coicide with summer..."

The Artist

Look... you know VB, we know VB so let's stop pretending like they need an introduction. As the universe knows they are the freshest burst of surf flavoured garage punk the Isle of Man has ever seen. They are a 4 piece bop-bringing, hook-singing outfit that boast absolute anthems. In case you can't tell, we like us some Voodoo Bandits. Fresh off the back of 2 national radio plays with both BBC Radio 1 and RadioX they ain't playin'.

The Song

I'm a loser brings it off the bat with a sense of anticipation that plooms into a cloud of fuzzy noise. The vocal comes in straight after laying out the self depricating tone of this summer tune.

The chorus shows up quicker than empty shelves during the panic-buying season. The vocal melody is partnered with an equally fuzzed up lead guitar running subtly beneath it. The remarkably simple chorus line clings on to your subconcious and waits till you think you have forgotten about it... boom!. Back again.

Shortly thereafter we are dealt a sneaky little false ending before that catchy bastard of a chorus comes back to ensure we don't forget it.

The Verdict

The song delivers as you would expect from such competent songwriters. I'm a loser brings all the summer vibes... it's like they planned the release to coicide with summer... I have said this about VB before, even before I became friends with all the members, you have to see these guys. Now more than ever because the manx scene won't keep them for too long.

If You Like...

If you enjoy the raucous sounds of Wavves, FIDLAR and Bass Drum of Death mixed with the marketability of bands like The Vaccines then this is for you my friends.
